Opinion essay
Some people
believe we shouldn’t have any rights when others support the opposite point of
view. Personally, I fully agree that we undoubtedly need rights in our lives as
any system needs to be under control.
First and
foremost, rights are mandatory in order to maintain peace. If we hadn’t had any
rights we would have lived in an absolute chaos. What that means is that people
not aware of rights and especially of their limitations would definitely limit
other people’s freedom, so it will inevitably cause crime rate increase. Moreover,
rights are crucial when it comes to resolving conflicts in a humane way. By
saying this I mean that if we didn’t have rights, the only way to reach the compromise
between individuals most likely would be fighting each other, which is nowadays
fortunately substituted by court of justice processes.
In contrast,
those who disagree with rights’ necessity claim that rights only bother them
and make their life boring. These people believe that if there weren’t any
rights at all it would make an opportunity for them to create their own rights
and live in the way they want, regardless on other people’s needs and desires.
Furthermore, there is such an opinion that the more rights folks have the more
dissatisfied and eventually the more motivated to break the law they become. In
other words, the more rights lead to more restrictions, stimulating people to turn
against the law, which is undesirable both for the offender and the government.
Although, I
fully disagree with an opposing opinion since a society where people don’t have
rights is completely unstable and only exists for a short period of time.
Overall,
what I consider to be the most essential reason why people need to have rights
in their lives is that rights secure our safety and freedom.
